In the pediatric age is cause loss too many days of school and work days parents or caregivers, you can limit the physical and social activity, all of which can cause great psychological impact.
In the following lines we will explain the basics of this disease. In asthma, and other allergic diseases linked we can distinguish three levels: clinical or symptoms occur, the pathogenesis or intermediate mechanisms of our body that cause symptoms, and etiology or cause that produces the previous two
The symptoms produced are basically asthma coughing, wheezing and difficulty breathing. The cough is usually dry at first, then become productive, with secretions. Wheezing is like whistling or "whistles" in the chest, produced by the passage of breath, sometimes audible to the naked ear, sometimes with the stethoscope. Shortness of breath, or dyspepsia, is fatigue, shortness of breath, lack of air, or does not enter the chest, which feels a tightness. This is due to a narrowing of the bronchi, which lowers the diameter for the passage of air.
These symptoms may appear together or either of them separately. Its intensity, frequency and duration are highly variable among different patients, and in the same patient at different times. Most often they arise intermittently, with symptom-free periods, although sometimes there are patients in whom symptoms are daily and constant. Its appearance can be abrupt in a matter of minutes even or gradually, over several days. Symptoms are usually worse at night. This set of symptoms is not unique to asthma, but can also occur in other diseases, especially in adults.
For this level of asthma medicines are used by inhalation, orally or injected. These drugs are called symptomatic or rescue treatment. Its purpose is to dilate the bronchi. This treatment is generally used for short periods, is interrupted when symptoms disappear, but not prevent the recurrence of symptoms after some time.
